Make it personal

Variable Data Printing (VDP) has opened up a whole world of possibilities from a marketing perspective. It’s become relatively established in the print sector in recent years because of its cost effectiveness, and the return on investment it achieves. But what is VDP?
The easiest way to think of it is as personalisation. VDP takes the data you have on your customers (usually in spreadsheet) and uses this information to personalise whatever it is you are sending them.
The possibilities are endless. Here at Horizon we have printed personalised letters, Gala Dinner tickets, pre-printed application forms with customer details inserted, and brochures with imagery and text tailored to specific client’s needs. Sound complicated? It’s not.
It’s true to say that you know your customers well. Even if you don’t recognise it! As a minimum you know their name, location, sector and what they last bought from you. You’ll also know the problem that your product or service is trying to solve for them. So even at the most basic level, you can break your customers down into smaller groups and target them accordingly.
The stats tell us that VDP will usually double enquiry rates. So if you are going to take the time and effort to print a direct mailshot, or a sales brochure or redeemable voucher – why not tailor it to increase your potential to convert this mailshot into a sale?
